Floribert Chebeya : 1963 – 2010. Human rights defender

President of Voice of the Voiceless (VSV), Floribert Chebeya has dedicated his life to defending his fellow citizens. His brutal assassination by the national police in 2010 while in the company of his driver, Fidèle Bazana, is a heinous crime and an inestimable loss for the nation.

Rossy Mukendi : 1982 – 2018. Youth movement leader


One of the leaders of citizen movements in Kinshasa, he played an active part in mobilising the CLC demonstrations against Kabila staying in power. He was shot dead by police during one of these demonstrations in Kinshasa in February 2018.

Éric Bokole : 2000 – 2018. Schoolboy

An 18-year-old high school finalist, shot dead by a police officer during the peace march in Mbandaka on 25 February.

Luc Nkulula : 1985 – 2018. Activist and leader of Lucha

Luc Nkulula is one of the founders of Lucha, one of the most active citizen movements in the DRC. Burned alive in his house in Goma, his disappearance is an immense loss for all Congolese youth.
